Mr. Tough

'Desperate Spaces' exhibition curated by the lovely Megan Cope is on next Friday evening from 6 - 9pm at the Paddington Substation (cnr Latrobe and Enoggera Tce). Some of my favorite Brisbane artists are being featured - Leecee Carmichael, Andy Harwood, Georg and Shida to name but a few - I think this will be a truly amazing show.

Hard to Explain

Wish I had the cash for these Ashish X Topshop wedges (now on sale!!)
The runway styling with the sequined flamingo print has me written all over it...

Eternal Sunshine

A sneak peek from the shoot I styled for Hell Yeah magazine. Hair and makeup by Elana Mullaly and photography by Conan Whitehouse. Speaking of Conan, Hell Yeah has profiled him on their blog - see here.

Baby's On Fire

I have always wanted to be a redhead and can't help but be filled with envy everytime I see Tiah Eckhardt's gorgeous locks. She is one of my favorite Australian models - check out her blog here.

Until She Comes

Givenchy Resort 2011

I often find that the Resort collections are either super relevant or super insulting to a Queenslander like myself. Super insulting would be kitsch renditions of our 'lifestyle' in sarongs, bad bikinis and flip flops. Particularly useless because when resort is shown each year Brisbaneites are coincidently enjoying our mellow winter sunshine.

Ricardo Tisci has got the Resort thing right, in my humble opinion. His collection is not as overtly elaborate as the Ready to Wear collection aesthetic he is known for, but continues in the same vein. Almost every look had a piece I would LOVE to own. The above looks I would love to own, head to toe. I adore that he injected leopard print into his classic red black and white palette, an addition apparently inspired by Frida Kahlo and her work. I love that he hasn't taken the 'resort' connotations literally (usually the irrelevant and insulting collections!) but instead has focused on a collection that is more readily wearable and accessible, a tit bit for devoted Tisci fans to feast on until the next Ready to Wear show..

My favorite looks are 3, 9, 10 and 11 - just in case you were wondering!

I think my friends who currently reside at the dream house will appreciate this little number - onesie perfect for cool verandah sleepouts at the beach, complete with hood.

Subzero Fun

Alice Who? platform heels. Love love love the shape - so wearable with the hefty hidden platform. I would wear the velvet ones non stop with socks for everyday and keep the blue glitter ones for dancing the night away...

Tristan Blair pony hair leopard print shoes at Violent Green

Sretsis gold ruffle bodysuit
Internet has been a bit of a rarity for me of late, as has spare time, so here's a bundle of goodies that I've been wowed by over the last week or so. The Romance Was Born violin jacket was always going to have a soft spot in my heart, as a music student and long time violinist it holds huge kitsch value for me to wear it but also love it so sick just as a great feature jacket. Imagining it layered with my vintage black sheer maxi dress and fur trim motorbike boots. Also really love how they've styled it on the girl in the lookbook, would be stoked to own that whole outfit! The Jurassic Ikat outfit would look shocking on my non model body but I think it is amazing.
Violent Green seem to be the prime offenders for tempting me to spend my measly income at the moment, (recently put down a deposit for the bag of my dreams - Deadly Ponies, black fur, amazing!). Perusing their blog this morning I came across these photos of these Tristan Blair shoes - I think they could be the replacement I've been looking for for the Ashish X Topshop wedges? While a completely different shaped shoe, they are probably far more practical for my lifestyle than the 6" wedges and still so so sick. Going to head in there this arvo and hope they still have a pair in my size!
Chasing Bow has the skirt version of this Sretsis bodysuit in store at the moment and it is gorgeous! Would be perfect in my wardrobe - even has a velvet band at the waist. I love the bodysuit too but not sure if it is stocked anywhere in Brisbane. Bodysuits are definitely something I need to try on, being pretty tall means the shoulder to crutch ratio is pretty vital and not always right!

Santeria

For my birthday this week I was completely and utterly spoilt, so lucky! One great present I received was a beautiful taupe Elke ring , which the girls at my work picked out for me. I've loved Elke Kramer's jewellry since I first spotted it on the Violent Green blog but have always had other spending priorities (mostly Deadly Ponies related eek!) I was just looking at the Elke site and was stoked to find this photo - I have that EXACT pink vintage loop cardi and love it so much! Going to invest in some chunky Elke bangles now so I can rock this look..
